Miami Full-Home Impact Window Replacement

Overview
Complete impact window and door transformation for an older residence, designed to give the home a more modern architectural look while upgrading it to full hurricane protection. The project included replacing the original arched openings with new square impact openings, installing premium matte black frames with clear Low-E laminated glass, adding a Clopay impact-rated garage door with impact glass, and creating a large multi-track sliding door system at the rear of the home to maximize views of the pool area.
The Challenge
The homeowners loved the location and layout of the property, but the house had an older design with multiple arched openings that made it feel dated. Their vision was to modernize the exterior and interior appearance by converting the arches into clean, squared openings while maintaining code compliance and structural integrity. The biggest challenge, however, was the rear elevation. The client wanted a very large multi-track sliding glass door to open up the back of the house and create a more dramatic connection to the pool. To make that possible, the existing opening had to be reworked significantly. This required careful planning to address structural support, span limitations, water management, and the coordination needed to create a large opening that would still meet impact and performance requirements.
Our Solution
Powerful Impact Solutions designed and executed a full modernization plan centered around both appearance and performance. We replaced the original arched openings with square impact window and door openings, giving the home a cleaner, more contemporary profile. All products were finished in matte black aluminum frames, a premium option that delivered a bold, refined look and helped elevate the entire design of the home. The matte black finish created strong architectural contrast, giving the property the upscale, modern character the homeowners wanted. All units were glazed with clear Low-E laminated impact glass, providing hurricane protection, improved energy efficiency, UV protection, and a bright, open feel throughout the house. To complete the exterior transformation, we also installed a Clopay impact-rated garage door with impact glass, tying the front elevation together with a sleek, high-end appearance. For the rear of the home, we engineered and installed the large multi-track sliding door system the client had envisioned. To make it happen, we worked through the structural and design challenges required to enlarge and square off the opening, ensure proper support, and deliver a system that could perform reliably while maximizing the pool view. The final result created a wide, open transition between the interior living space and the outdoor area.
The Result
The home was completely transformed from an older, traditional design into a modern and luxurious residence with full impact protection. The new square openings, premium matte black frames, clear Low-E laminated glass, Clopay impact-rated garage door, and oversized multi-track sliding door gave the property a bold new identity and significantly improved its curb appeal. The most important feature was the large multi-track sliding door at the rear of the home. After resolving the structural and design challenges required to enlarge and square the opening, we delivered the wide, unobstructed pool view that the homeowners had envisioned. The new system brings more natural light into the living area and creates a seamless connection between the interior and outdoor spaces. Beyond the visual transformation, the new impact windows and doors also provide meaningful long-term savings. The Low-E glass helps reduce solar heat gain and the demand on the air-conditioning system, which can lower monthly energy costs. Permanent impact protection eliminates the expense and maintenance associated with hurricane shutters, and the completed upgrade may help the homeowner qualify for available wind-mitigation insurance discounts, depending on the insurance carrier and final inspection. The final result combines modern design, improved energy efficiency, enhanced security, hurricane protection, reduced maintenance costs, and increased property value.
